Every parcel ships with tracking — typically 7–12 business days to the UK and 8–15 to the US, with email updates at each step.
Operated by BARANGARI MULTIPURPOSE LIMITED (RC-1435637), registered with Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission — a real company behind every order.
Five categories, each rooted in a craft or food tradition that Northern Nigeria does particularly well.
Wax-print Ankara cotton by the yard and hand-loomed accent cloths from current market bolts.
Full-grain Sokoto goatskin wallets and small goods, hand-stitched with waxed thread.
Raw yellow shea butter and traditional African black soap — single-ingredient, slow-made.
Suya pepper blend, dried hibiscus for zobo, and small-batch heritage seasonings.
Hand-woven Hausa baskets and storage pieces — each one unique.
Northern Nigeria has been a centre of craft for centuries — indigo dye pits of Kano, leather workshops of Sokoto, shea butter from the savanna belt of Jigawa and Katsina.
Most of what you can buy abroad labelled “African” was made in factories, often outside the continent. Barangari Lab exists so family and friends in the UK and US could buy the actual fabric, shea and baskets — made by the people who have always made them.
Everything on this site is a product we have handled ourselves. We pack each order in Jigawa and ship through tracked international courier.
Read more about usA small catalogue we can vouch for — seven products, not seventy we cannot.

We do not stock anything we did not buy from a real market or a real maker. Fabric bolts are selected at the textile markets of Kano and Kaduna. Spices are blended for us in small batches. Baskets are bought at source from craftswomen we know by name.
That is also why our catalogue is small. We would rather offer seven products we can vouch for than seventy we cannot.
